Ok so your bags are packed, and you are ready for a long flight.
The question is what are you going to do during the hours you are airborne?
Netflix has come up with a solution that allows you to watch films offline.
You can now continue to watch your Orange is The New Black while travelling on aeroplanes or other remote places where internet connection is limited or not available.
While most airlines have in-flight entertainment options, there is still the fundamental issue that you just might not be into watching what is on offer.
Watch Netflix Films Offline
Netflix made the announcement that users will now be able to download material and watch it later in offline mode late last year. According to Eddy Wu, “Many of your favourite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way, so there is plenty of content available for those times when you are offline.”
The new service is only available on iOS and Android operating systems for both phones and tablets. All you need to do is make sure your Netflix app is updated to the latest version, and the offline functionality will already be there.
Netflix has not indicated whether the offline service will be extended to laptops as well, which could be more convenient for business travellers who don’t want to be burdened by taking another device with them.
To access the complete list of the shows available for download, all you need to do is open your Netflix app, and click on the ‘available for download’ list, which will show you all the possible episodes and features you can download and watch offline.
When looking to kill some time hanging around airports or on flights, where Wi-Fi connectivity can be either slow or expensive, especially since there are already some great shows on the service, you can immerse yourself in House of Cards, Dexter, Narcos, or the Crown. Alternatively, you can opt for a blast from the past and work your way through all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Without a doubt, this is a great move by Netflix, which will benefit people who are regularly on the move.
Especially since the new service comes at no additional cost than the usual cost of your Netflix subscription. This latest development adds another options for travellers; while many spend their time reading a book, chatting to fellow passengers, or just catching a nap, even the most hardened of travellers would find this invaluable to keep them occupied and entertained while on a trip locally and internationally.
