His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashed, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the latest megaproject destined for construction in Dubai, the Dubai Harbour.
The Dubai Harbour
The new harbour and waterfront development will create the largest marina in the Middle East. The harbour will cover 1.85 million square metres and will include a marina capable of handling 1,400 vessels.
The marina will also enable Dubai to manage some of the world’s biggest superyachts with berths for vessels up to 85 metres in length. This development increases the current berth capacity in Dubai by nearly 50% from its current level of 3,000 berths to 4,400 berths.
Aside from the largest marina in the Middle East, the harbour will also feature Dubai Lighthouse. This 135-metre-high building will home a luxury hotel as well as an observation deck.
Th Dubai Harbour will also feature a 13,900-sq. metre cruise liner terminal that can handle some of the world’s best and biggest ships with a capacity of 6,000 passengers. In addition to all this, residences, hotels, a shopping mall, retail spaces and a yacht club will all feature in the new Dubai Harbour project.
Location of the Dubai Mega Project
The new project will be built at the Mina Seyahi, on an area between Palm Jumeirah and the Jumeirah Beach Residence. The project will absorb and integrate Skydive Dubai, Logo Island, and Dubai International Marine Club into a single enclave with its dedicated road and monorail network. The project is expected to take four years to complete from the time work commences.
On the unveiling of the master plan for the project, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid stated that “I am confident that the project will have a highly positive effect on our entire region’s tourism sector. We are keen to encourage new projects and promote investments that will contribute to bringing to the region more tourists interested in experiencing this part of the world.”
This new mega project is another feather in Dubai’s cap and will go hand in hand in cementing the reputation of the UAE as the ultimate in luxury destinations, with some of the best infrastructures and facilities anywhere in the world.
